The hand behind the work: Vincent Van GoghArticle by Anna Laura Millacci on Effetto Arte ”My dear Theo, I can't help it if my paintings don't sell. But the day will come when it will be seen that they are worth more than the price of the color I put in, and of my own life ”. From the close correspondence of #vanGogh with his brother comes a less romantic and "crazy" portrait of the damned artist par excellence. In fact, he was not really crazy. AL Millacci tells us about it

Tamara de LempickaList item 4Article by Anna Laura Millacci on on Effetto Arte Tamara de Lempicka is at Palazzo Chiablese in Turin: the Polish artist protagonist of Parisian social life, acclaimed fashionable painter, successful femme fatale, free and transgressive woman of the roaring twenties, who has become the symbol of women's emancipation. Citizen of the world, existentially nomadic, Tamara de Lempicka embodies the modernity of the twentieth century and its epochal changes. In those years between the two wars, thanks to innovations in transport and communications, the world was changing, looking smaller, brighter and faster.

The Critic as an Artist by Oscar WildeList item 1Article by Anna Laura Millacci on Effetto Arte Published on April 4, 2015 in the art magazine Effetto Arte Among the lesser known works written by Oscar Wilde there is the essay The Critic as an Artist - written in the form of a dialogue between two lovers in a starry night - which addresses the age-old question of art criticism. It is a provocative essay, out of line, but perhaps extraordinarily adequate. .

Felix Timmermans: BruegelArticle by Anna Laura Millacci about on Effetto Arte "When drawing took hold of him, he could not be stopped, he was stronger than his will and his blood throbbed as if he had a fever". Pieter Bruegel was one of the greatest exponents of Flemish painting of the 16th century, best known for his famous painting 'The Tower of Babel'. Probably born around 1525, Bruegel is considered the progenitor of an important family of painters: he is known by the name of Pieter Bruegel the Elder and lives a difficult childhood. Halfway between biography and fable

Our children are works of artList item 2Article by Anna Laura Millacci about on Effetto Arte At the Maxxi in Rome a great crowd of love for “neuroathic” children. The great feat of Gianluca Nicoletti for the world day of awareness on autism: “Our children are works of art”. On Thursday 2 April 2015 at the MAXXI in Rome, a simple commemoration for the International Day on Autism was not celebrated as it happened almost everywhere, but perhaps the much desired synergistic and constructive approach to the world of diversity has finally materialized. It was not a day of protest then, but a party. We did not see sad images to move us but rather we wanted to highlight the talents, making these special kids into real works of art

Vesna Pavan and violence against womenArticle by Anna Laura Millacci on Corriere della Sera When art stands up against violence against women, the signature of the multifaceted painter Vesna Pavan materializes, determined to protect the victims of human brutality. Already triumphant at the Palermo Biennale with a second placement, the Friulian artist embarks on a world tour, whose funds will be donated entirely to the Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) and Acid Survivors Foundation India associations which constantly assist and treat the victims of these violence. A courageous choice that deserves due attention and relevance from the media. A deceptive contrast: her image with the humanitarian project of which she is champion.

Mass literacy dealArticle by Anna Laura Millacci on on Effetto Arte There is still a lot to understand about the society we live in and about our current civil and cultural level, probably making this reflection is not superfluous. I think all this is well known, but perhaps the younger ones are not well informed of the fact that they came into the world not in an age of change, but in a "period change", moreover built on a dilapidated stage. Have you seen The Truman Show? Well maybe it wasn't just a movie.

ALTER. FEARLESS. UNCOMFORTABLE. The women who said NOArticle by Anna Laura Millacci on Nanopress Women who said NO was an exciting artistic experience from which my latest collection of paintings was born. And from which a strong bond with 18 unsuspected travel companions arose, which I transformed into portraits. These are 18 female characters who have remained in historical memory and in the collective imagination, each of which has left a profound mark on me as well. A sign that I wanted to impress with love on canvases full of passion. Canvases steeped in past and present that blend together in a recurring story over time, united by a common element: Courage.

Lo Stelloncino - Kounellis and the Great ActArticle by Anna Laura Millacci on on Effetto Arte The conceptual artist Kounellis, as the magazine Inside Art tells us, “has never lingered in the intellectual exposition of a sentimental concept or vision”. Well. There is no doubt that in composing his works Jannis Kounellis has never lingered. However, we would like the editorial staff that reviewed this exhibition by titling it:

David LaChapelle - “After the Deluge” Il fenomeno LaChapelle in RomaList item 3Article by Anna Laura Millacci on Art Effect David LaChapelle - "After the Deluge" The LaChapelle phenomenon in Rome Anna Laura Millacci 25 May 2015 Exhibitions What LaChapelle calls her "Turn" out of place and sounds like wanting to "climb mirrors", in an effort to address more contemporary issues that is not convincing. Although I must admit a not very accurate knowledge of this artist, since his post-Pop and hyper surrealist style has never convinced me too much, I wanted to better understand what was behind this “phenomenon” of planetary success. I visited the exhibition “David LaChapelle, After the Deluge” - at Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome until 29 September 2015 - bought his books and tried to get a clearer idea of the acclaimed “genius” LaChapelle.
